Download Instagram Reels on iPhone, Android and PC
Searching for "instagram reels download" usually means one simple thing: you want a public Reel saved as a file you can watch offline. Here is the quick way to do it from a link, on any device, and what to check when it does not work.
What you need
Only the link of the Reel. You do not have to install an app or sign in. The tool reads the public video and prepares an MP4 for you, or an MP3 if you only want the sound.
Step 1: copy the Reel link
- Instagram app (iPhone and Android): open the Reel, tap the paper-plane Share icon, then Copy link.
- Computer: open the Reel in your browser and copy the address from the address bar.
Step 2: paste it and download
- Open the Instagram Reels downloader.
- Paste the link into the field.
- Choose MP4 for the video or MP3 for the audio.
- Press the download button and wait a few seconds.
The same page also handles regular public Instagram videos, so you can use the Instagram video downloader if you prefer.
Where is the file afterwards?
On iPhone it goes to the Files app, in the Downloads folder, and you can add it to Photos with Share, then Save Video. On Android, look in Files, then Downloads. On a computer, check your browser's downloads folder (Ctrl + J in Chrome). Our guide where to find a downloaded video explains each case.
Only the audio of a Reel
If you only need the sound, for example a spoken tip or a piece of music you are allowed to reuse, choose MP3. The file is encoded at 192 kbit/s, which is fine for listening on a phone or speakers. You can also use the video to MP3 converter.
What can be saved, and what cannot
- Public Reels and public videos: yes.
- Private accounts: no. The video needs a login that the tool does not use.
- Stories: not supported at the moment.
- Videos removed by their author: no, of course.
When the download fails
- Check that the link is complete. A link cut in the middle is the first cause of errors. Copy it again from the Share menu.
- Check the account is public. Open the link in a private browser window. If you cannot watch it without logging in, the tool cannot either.
- Try again in a minute. Instagram sometimes limits requests for a short time.
- Switch browser or network. A VPN or a strict content blocker can interfere with the download button.

Respect the creator
A Reel belongs to the person who made it. Saving a copy for personal viewing is one thing; reposting it as your own, removing a credit or using it commercially without permission is another, and may break copyright rules or Instagram's terms. When in doubt, ask the creator, or share the original link instead.
