Vimeo hosts short films, courses and presentations. Depending on the author, the download button is sometimes missing. If the video is public, its link is enough to make a copy.
Step 1: copy the video link
Open the video on Vimeo and copy the page address from the browser bar. It looks like vimeo.com/123456789. In the app, tap the share icon then Copy link.
Step 2: paste it in the downloader
Open the Vimeo video downloader, paste the link, pick Video MP4 or Audio MP3, then tap Download. You need neither an account nor an app.
Step 3: find the file
- iPhone: Files app, Downloads folder. To get it in Photos, open the video then Share and Save Video.
- Android: Files app, Downloads folder.
- Computer: your browser's Downloads folder.
What can get in the way
- Private videos, password-protected ones or videos restricted to a specific domain cannot be read by the tool.
- Rental or purchase videos (Vimeo On Demand) are protected and cannot be downloaded.
- A link that does not open the video directly (a profile or channel page) does not work: open the video itself.
Videos belong to their authors: keep them for personal use and ask the creator before reposting them.
